The concept of trip-chaining, which refers to making multiple stops and engaging in multiple activities during a single journey, has been observed to be more prevalent among working women compared to working men. These trip-chaining behaviours are often driven by household responsibilities such as childcare, supporting elderly family members, and running errands like grocery shopping that often associated with women. Working women may need to incorporate multiple stops and tasks into their daily travel routines in order to efficiently manage their work and domestic obligations. This could involve dropping off children at school or day-care, making stops at stores or markets, and attending to the needs of elderly family members, all while commuting to and from work. This research compares women trip chaining between two countries that is between India and Malaysia. The comparison will allow the researcher to understand women personal travels and commuting distance and its relationship with for themselves and their families, contributing to a better work-life balance. Overall, the increased participation of women in the labour force has brought about significant changes in their roles and responsibilities, which have, in turn, influenced their travel behaviours. By understanding these trends, transportation planners and policymakers can develop strategies and infrastructure that cater to the unique needs and challenges faced by working women in their daily travels.
