Rapid Bacterial Counter

Abstract

Using the plate culture method to count the bacterial number over 24 hours is a time-consuming process. Bcount is a powerful platform for SIMPLE (i.e. Speedy, In situ, Miniature, Precise, Low-cost, and Efficient) bacterial count from anywhere at any time. The Bcount Rapid Bacterial Counter consists of fluorescent dye kit, disposable biochip, desktop fluorescent reader, as well as automatic image-processing software, and its main characteristics are as follows:

• Accurate—to eliminate the subjectivity of bacterial counting and user-to-user variability;
• Fast—to provide a total bacterial count and report viability within 30 min over a board range of bacterial types;
• Convenient—to simplify sample pretreatment for a user-friendly interface of the equipment to minimize manpower burden;
• Flexible—to accept up to four laser sources of user's choice for various fluorescent bacterial labeling.
